Preview  Crazy Chase
- By Joe Ridino

With the slew of Super Nintendo ports coming to the Game Boy Advance, one might be worn out on all the re-hashed games for the GBA. One of these GBA games that gamers probably aren’t aware of is Crazy Chase, a low-profile Super Nintendo game that’s coming to Game Boy Advance in November. Crazy Chase is Kemco’s attempt to give old-school gamers (and newbies) a little SNES nostalgia.

Crazy Chase takes place in an isometric perspective, where gamers control a sad clown boy who is being terrorized by a mad bomber. The premise of the game is to keep running from the various obstacles that trail behind the main character. These obstacles can be anything from swinging axes, falling logs, and other falling objects. While running past all these traps, the player has to catch up and stomp on a lit fuse to make sure it doesn’t reach the powder keg. This is a very simple idea for an adventure game, but it’s one we’re sure will keep us entertained.

The in-game graphics look very vibrant and colorful so far. Since this game is a direct port from the Super Nintendo version, gamers can expect the graphics to be even better once the game is fully complete. According to IGN’s Mark Nix, the animation in Crazy Chase seemed ‘somewhat stiff compared to the fluidity of the original.’ Even though the game is near 60 percent complete, Kemco still has some time to fix this obvious problem.

One of the negative aspects of Crazy Chase is the control. IGN’s Mark Nix stated that the control still left indents in his fingers, just like in the original SNES version. The developers of Crazy Chase should also re-work the jumping mechanics, since ‘it was a little delayed.’ If Kemco can iron out these obvious problems, Crazy Chase could be a hot title.

Overall, we at Nadventures think that Crazy Chase seems like a really entertaining game. Even though we didn’t get the chance to play it at E3 this year, we are still anticipating its November 2001 release.
