News   XBox Release DELAYED!
- Posted By Michael Loewer, 08.27.2001

Microsoft Corp. announced today from Tokyo, Japan, that it would be delaying the release of the XBox in both Japan and Europe to focus on the American market.

Unlike the GameCube's two week American delay, this one is far longer. As of now, the XBox will not see launch in Japan or Europe until February 22, 2002.

Sadly, the US launch is still on track for November 8th...

This course of action does not come at a great surprise to Nintendo enthusiasts, who rumored Microsoft would issue a delay since Nintendo gave them breathing room at SpaceWorld. However, a delay as long as 3.5 months will put Microsoft at a severe disadvantage in Europe and the homeland -- a blow far worse than caused by Nintendo's 'Cube delay.
