News   Nintendo Conference Call
- Posted By Andrew Weatherton, 08.23.2001

  • The GameCube's launch was delayed in order to increase the hardware quantity available (by 25%), and to ensure that Nintendo OWNS Thanksgiving Weekend in the US.

  • Japan's hardware supply is 2.5M by year end, 4M by March.

  • “Locked and Loaded for 700K” in US.
No bundling. “Someone else thought that was a good idea, and we wish them well with it.”

  • Retail concerns about Sunday launch? Retailers get product on Thursday or Friday, and prep for Sunday (early launch???)

  • Animal Forest is NOT guaranteed for America … NOA is constantly re-evaluating the title.

  • Nintendojo asked: Zelda looks different, are their two separate titles? The new look WILL be the actual product. Miyamoto changed it after careful consideration. (apparently the change was made even before E3 2001, however Nintendo still ran the same footage seen at SpaceWorld 2000).

  • Poked fun at Microsoft several times, mainly for their plan to force people to buy bundles (about $500).

  • Nintendo’s plan to defeat Sony’s lead: Sony only has a handful of great titles out of 125.
