News   Confirmed Final GameCube Color Schemes
- Posted By Michael Loewer, 08.23.2001

Here are the final, confirmed reports of the GameCube console and controller colors for both the North American and Japanese launch:

Japanese Launch:

Initially, the Japanese will only launch with the Indigo (Purple) GameCube, but will receive the Jet Black and Spice Orange versions sometime in November. It is presumed controllers will be available in the same colors at the launch of each new version.

North American Launch:

The USA will receive both the Indigo and Jet Black GameCubes at launch, but NOT Spice Orange. However, we will at launch receive four controller colors: Indigo, Indigo/See-through, Spice Orange, and Jet Black.

I do hope Nintendo is nice enough to give out knowledge of future colors and not wait too long to do so. Other colors debuted at E3 2001, such as the extremely popular silver and gold, so why not at least say they'll be produced later? Also, why is Nintendo holding back Spice Orange consoles from the USA launch, yet including that color as a controller? Likewise, why include a see-through controller (alone) when a see-through console would be a huge hit?

More news as it (hopefully) develops. I want my freakin' GOLD Cube, and I want it NOW...
