News   Nintendo Mic
- Posted By Lander Clinton, 09.15.2004

Nintendo has finally confirmed that they are not ripping off Sony's EyeToy, which itself was ripped off Nintendo's GameEye. The extra peripheral to be used in Mario Party 6 is a microphone.

Along with normal Maro Party minigames, gamers will be able to use the microphone to shout out trivia answers and even issue commands to their characters. Hopefully the mic will be more sophisticated than the one included in the Donkey Konga bongos, which just picks up clapping noises.

One rumor says the microphone will also work with Nintendo's upcoming GameCube version of Advance Wars, which really should have been named Cube Wars. The mic is already confirmed to be used in "Git on Da Mic," a karaoke game for the GameCube.

"We'd also like to confirm the mic will be used in a new GameCube Wario Ware game," said Nintendo President Satoru Iwata. "Anyone's free to contact my personal email, iwata@nintendo.co.jp, to make sure this wasn't just made up by ngenres.com."

Iwata said the GCN Wario Ware sequel will have an opposite mode from other Wario Ware games, where players will see an action and then have to call out what was happening, such as "Scratch!" or "Jump!"

Iwata later confirmed that this was just made up by NGenres, but hoped someone would find his real personal email address and send him the idea.
