News   Pikmin 2
- Posted By Eric Tajchman, 05.14.2003

Pikmin 2 is by far the best in the series, and take that however you will. Many of the problems that plagued the fun but short Pikmin (emphasis on the "short") have been remedied. Now the game is more open-ended and is not constrained by any sort of time limit.

In a nutshell, Pikmin 2 marks the return of Captain Olimar to the planet of the Pikmin. However, instead of finding parts to his ship, you now find various sorts of knick-knacks around the land to pay off your enormous debt of 10000 Pekos (which is a lot). However, Olimar is not alone in his red financial endeavor as he has brought along his assistant to help him with his collecting need. Though in the preview version the assistant was not an integral part of the game (read: none at all), Nintendo assures that he will be used quite extensively in the gold release of the game.

But odn't expect this game to be just any old Pikmin rehash. The game starts you off with the 3 types of Pikmin found in the original; the red, the blue and the purple. Nintendo has also stated that there will be an additional 2 types of Pikmin found later on in the game, but what abilities and colors they are weren't given.

Once again, more as it becomes available.
