News   Sega Chooses Sammy Over Namco
- Posted By Lander Clinton, 05.05.2003

Sega has decided to keep its original deal to merge with Sammy today, negating many fans' hopes that it would accept Namco's proposal.

Although I know nothing about the financial benefits to any of the companies, I do know that when Sammy proposed a merger with Sega, both companies' stocks went down, and when Namco did the same, Sega's and Namco's went up. I also know that Sammy doesn't really offer much to the world of videogames, and that a deal with Namco would have made for some interesting cross-overs, especially for fighting game fans.

We of course wish each company the best and hope for continued support of Nintendo systems. Expect more from E3.
