News   Nintendo's Sales Crush Everyone
- Posted By Francis Bonnet, 04.04.2003

Seems like everybody loves The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Link's newest Gamecube title had a record-breaking 600,000 pre-orders, and Nintendo has just announced that 1.1 million copies of the title have shipped within North America (although actual sales figures have yet to be released). Gamecube also saw a 20% increase in console sales thanks to The Wind Waker's success.

As for Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire, Nintendo announced that 2.2 million units have been shipped to North American retailers since March 17. Add that to the 4.4 million units that have shipped in Japan since last year and you have... well, you have a whole lotta units! And you all thought that Pokemon was dead... shame on you!

Gameboy Advance SP has also proved to be a success (like we didn't know that would happen) being that it sold 800,000 units since it's release about a week ago. My not-so-surprising prediction: GBA SP sales will continue to be successful.

So as you can see, folks, Nintendo has had an impressive March in terms of sales. Whether or not the Gamecube sales hike dies down has yet to be seen, but with more quality titles on the way like Wario World, F-Zero and Soul Calibur II (with Link), it should only help keep GCN sales steady.
