News   Metal Gear Solid on GCN
- Posted By Francis Bonnet, 02.27.2003

Confirming rumors that have been circulating on the internet for the last few days, Konami officially announced that a Metal Gear Solid game is indeed headed to a Gamecube near you. Although information is sketchy, the game is to be a Gamecube exclusive; whether it turns out to be an all new MGS game or an "enhanced version" of an existing title has yet to be seen.

An even more interesting note is the fact that MGS will serve as a test for Konami to see how well its games will sell on the Cube. If MGS for GCN sells well, Konami may bring future installments of franchises like Castlevania and Contra to Nintendo. Let's hope that other 3rd companies follow Konami's suit - more 3rd party support can only help Nintendo gain the upper hand on Microsoft.

More information on Metal Gear Solid for GCN should be revealed at the E3 show this May. Stay tuned for details.
