News   3rd Party Memory Cards are Bad for Zelda
- Posted By Francis Bonnet, 12.17.2002

NCL recently issued a warning to people who own 3rd party memory cards (a.k.a. non-Nintendo made cards). Apparently, if you own an unlicensed Gamecube memory card you may not be able to save a file once you purchase The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (due out in the U.S. March 27). Even worse, if you are able to save a file with a 3rd party card, it may become corrupt, erased, or cause other general problems. Personally, I've always stuck with 1st party memory cards... and that goes for EVERY system. I find 3rd party memory cards to be too unreliable - I would rather pay a few extra dollars for a 1st party card in order to insure that my game files are safe.

As of now there are no warnings to U.S. Zelda gamers, but chances are that the same problems will occur once the title hits stateside. If you don't already own an official Nintendo Gamecube Memory Card, there's no better time than the present to purchase one.
