Megaton Announcement Rumors

In case you haven't heard, sometime this month Nintendo is scheduled to make a "Megaton" announcement - an earth shattering announcement that will shake up the gaming industry. Although no one knows exactly what that announcement will be, it's sure to be good news, at least according to Nintendo. Despite there being no confirmation on exactly what will be announced, a photo was recently "leaked" out, which somehow relates to the announcement:
If you reduce the image to 8% of its original size, it almost looks as if Sonic, Mega Man, and Mario are all standing next to each other. Rumors have been flying (in response to the image) that Nintendo's Megaton Announcement will be a buyout of Capcom and Sega. Now I could see Capcom as a possibility - they've been very friendly with Nintendo lately and their development seems to be leaning more towards the Gamecube than any other console. I could also see Sega as a possibility, but to a lesser degree - they have been very close to Nintendo being that their mascot, Sonic the Hedgehog, has thus far remained Gamecube exclusive, but two Sega games are still the pack-in titles for Microsoft's Xbox. There have also been rumors that Namco may also be going Gamecube exclusive, but there's not much to point to that direction, even though they're working with Nintendo on the Triforce Arcade board (Sega's involved in that too). It would be VERY interesting to see how the gaming industry reacts if any of these companies becomes Nintendo exclusive.
I've also heard a rumor that Nintendo would be announcing a successor to Gameboy Advance, but I think there's less truth in that being that GBA is less than two years old. Besides, a Megaton announcement would have to be more Earth-shattering than that... new systems are announced all the time and Nintendo wouldn't piss off that many happy GBA owners.
Within the next week or so, Nintendo's Megaton Announcement will be officially unveiled to the public. Personally, I'm pretty excited because whatever it may be, it can only mean good news for Nintendo and the Gamecube. So lets cross our fingers and hope this announcement is bigger than Sega going third party!
