News   Zelda Gets Official U.S. Name
- Posted By Lander Clinton, 12.02.2002

Nintendo announced today that Zelda will indeed keep her name for her GameCube debut, crushing speculation that she'd change her name to Mrs. Link.

"Zelda is a modern woman," said no one, "she's not even sure if she'll accept Link's proposal."

Nintendo also announced that the title of the Zelda game will be "The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker," due to the game's wind-based puzzles.

When asked if the title had anything to do with Nicolas Cage and WWII Navajo codes, Nintendo said yes, but confirmed that no one actually saw that movie, so all the similarities will go right over our heads.

Meanwhile, Zelda will be released in Japan in less than two weeks, so expect a media flood and tons of spoilers.
