News   The New Age of Controller Realism
- Posted By Michael Loewer, 07.26.2001

Crazy stuff, nowadays...

Today I ran across a real online news article concerning a soon-to-be released videogame controller that will actually be able to shock you in the arms, and in the process, temporarily paralyze your hands!

The thought of my friends walking around slapping their hands into walls and doors trying to get them to "wake up" is just hilarious.

And away we go:

This will only hurt for a second

Well, (since we've got this nice picture) it's pretty obvious that this is a REAL controller. Basically, when your character suffers damage during gameplay, a short pulse of low voltage current is sent through the electrodes into your arms--temporarily paralyzing your hands. The company behind this masochistic device is none other than Mad Catz, who calls the new technology "Bioforce."

By the way, for anyone thinking this is a doctored photo--this information was taken from a news article on Yahoo.com, not some fanboy site. Also, I realize that the controller looks like PSX or PS2 model--but Mad Catz tends go multi-platform with their product releases, so I wouldn't be too concerned.
