Doshin the Giant Cancelled

According to Computer and Videogames, a representative from Nintendo was asked to shed some light on the upcoming Gamecube releases in both the U.S. and Europe last week at the pre-ECTS breakfast event in Europe.
First bit of news (which should't affect us gamers in the states) is that Nintendo has no plans to release Animal Crossing in Europe. According to the Nintendo representative, "I'm not saying we're not releasing it. I'm saying we currently have no plans. When you look at the schedule we have for the coming months, it's quite crowded. We already have a broad range of games, so we're happy with the current line-up. There is no need for this game at the moment. We'd like to see how it goes in America first, because it's a huge step from the Japanese market to the Western Hemisphere. We'd like to see whether or not it's well received in America: then we can consider it for launch in Europe."
The second bit of news hits home, but most gamers probably won't think twice about it. Doshin the Giant, originally released in Japan for the Nintendo 64 Disc Drive and then re-released for Gamecube, has been cancelled for U.S. release. The game was expected to ship early 2003, around the time of Zelda's release. The reasons for Nintendo of America's decision are still unknown.
Doshin the Giant was a game in which you played as a god who watched over a small town. You could destroy buildings, help villagers, or do pretty much whatever you wanted. Unfortunately for us, we'll never get the chance to play this off-beat game. Interestingly enough, however, is that Doshin is still scheduled for release next month in Europe.
