News   Mother 3 (Earthbound) Rises from the Dead?
- Posted By Francis Bonnet, 08.28.2002

Remember shortly after the N64 was released and Nintendo announced the N64 Disc Drive? Well, Mother 3 (Earthbound in the U.S.) was announced as one of the games compatible with the unit. However, since there was very little support for the N64 Disc Drive (and since it flopped), Nintendo switched the game over to cartridge format. After numerous delays, Mother 3 was eventually cancelled altogether. Or was it?

Recently, at Super Smash Brothers musical concert in Japan, comic book artist Benimaru Itoh (who has been involved in the character development of all three Mother games) revealed that Nintendo would announce something regarding Mother 3 within the near future. No consoles or dates were mentioned, but since the Mother series has been very successful in Japan, it's a sure bet that Nintendo has not abandoned the series.
