News   Final Fantasy III For GBA?
- Posted By Eric Tajchman, 08.16.2002

According to the French gaming site Newtechnix, the Japanese magazine V-Jump will unveil the remake of the SNES RPG, Final Fantasy III, for the GBA. The title was originally planned as a WonderSwan Color title, but has since disappeared from release lists. The magazine is set to hit store shelves on August 21, 2002.

This does make sense, as the Square/Nintendo relationship has grown stronger over the last few months, and the Game Boy Advance is selling extremely well in Japan with approximately 1.5 million units sold this year alone. The WonderSwan Color has only sold about 80,000 units this year, and it’s big brother, Swan Crystal, has only sold about 54,000 units. It is quite reasonable that Square would bring the title to the GBA and a much larger consumer base.

However, this is all rumor and nothing has been officially confirmed. Square had recently announced four GBA titles currently in development (Chocobo Successor, Seiken Densetsu, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicle, and Final Fantasy Tactics) a little less than a week ago, and it seems a little strange to announce yet another title so soon after. We’ll have more on this as it surfaces.
