News   Gamecube Is Outselling Xbox
- Posted By Francis Bonnet, 08.06.2002

This comes as an interesting bit of news for those of you who are doubting Nintendo's success, but according to a Reuters report, Gamecube is indeed doing better than Xbox worldwide.

According to the results of a Ziff-Davis Media Game Group survey involving around 2,000 gamers, Xbox has sold 3.8 million units worldwide and Nintendo's Gamecube has sold 4.8 million units worldwide - a 1 million unit lead. That's good news... however good news rarely comes without bad. According to the survey only 9% said they plan on buying a Gamecube in the future and 15% said they plan on buying an Xbox. So what does this mean? Ziff-Davis predicts that by 2003 Xbox will have 13.7 units sold whereas Gamecube will have 11.2.

Personally, I don't think that Xbox will gain a lead by 2003. Nintendo's software lineup is rock-solid well into 2003. With killer games like Mario Sunshine, Starfox Adventures, Metriod Prime and Zelda (not to mention a $50 price advantage), Nintendo will surely push more systems into the homes of gamers hungry for quality software.
