News   DigiPen’s Project FUN
- Posted By Eric Tajchman, 07.29.2002

Every person at one time or another has always wanted to make a game. The problem is that nobody knows where to start, and those that scour the Internet looking for information are usually overwhelmed by what they have to do in order to make their idea into a game. Enter DigiPen’s Project FUN. Project FUN, launched July 20, 2002, is a new club that offers its users complete access to all the tools and resources necessary to make your very own game. DigiPen says that Project FUN is meant for the beginning and experienced programmers alike.

Project FUN also has an online community that allows for members to share their games and ideas and enhance their creativity. Nintendo Power will also feature a monthly column in their magazine called “Fundamentals” which will offer information and advice on how to create and enhance their creations.

What is also unique about Project FUN is that its tutorial is one of the most basic and informative out there, covering normally complex topics, such as learning C/C++ code, and making them easily understandable by people who have little or no experience with coding. If you have the desire and the drive to build yourself a game the way you want it, then you should definitely consider signing up for Project FUN.

Project FUN is a subscription based service. For only $30 you can subscribe for a year of service and receive a bonus year subscription to Nintendo Power. For current Nintendo Power subscribers, the Project FUN annual fee is decreased to only $15 when you enter in your magazine subscription number. You can access the Project FUN site at www.projectfun.digipen.edu.
