IDG Games Media Group, the world's largest interactive entertainment information provider for multiplatform gaming enthusiasts and publisher of GamePro magazine, the world's largest multiplatform gaming magazine, and GamePro.com, today announced its exclusive partnership with Racing Champions Ertl and their new JoyRide Studios division to create action figures and vehicles based on popular video game titles.
This summer, GamePro and JoyRide Studios will release their exclusive line of action figures and vehicles that are based on top-selling video games for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, Xbox video game system from Microsoft, Nintendo GameCube, Game Boy Advance and PC platforms. The products will hit specialty and mass-market retail stores across the country and internationally and will be priced from $9.99 for vehicles to $12.99 for action figures. GamePro and JoyRide Studios will deliver brand-new products for this line every two months based on Top Tier Triple A game titles. The line-up of toys include highly sought-after video game characters and vehicles from Electronic Arts and Sega games. Vehicles and characters from Electronic Arts include Sinder and Violet from Cel Damage, Eddie and Elise from SSX Tricky, Tanya from Command & Conquer Renegade, Stealth Tanks, and Orca ship, as well as characters and vehicles from Sega including Sonic The Hedgehog and Shadow from Sonic Adventure 2, Crazy Taxi, Akira and Lau from Virtua Fighter 4, and AiAi and MeeMee from Super Monkey Ball.
Each product package will feature exclusive GamePro editorial from the authoritative experts at the industry-leading video games magazine. GamePro's editorial -- packaged with each product -- will include reviews, previews, or feature articles on each particular video game. Additionally, every product will have GamePro-tested codes, so gamers can get the most out of their video games.
Francis "Chairman" Mao, Senior Vice President and Director of Editorial and Creative Services for GamePro:
"As the popularity and demand for action figures increases amongst video gaming enthusiasts, we've responded with this exciting line of products. In leveraging the successful GamePro brand with over 12 years of industry-leading experience and the expertise of JoyRide Studio's toy production and marketing, we are creating an unique line of top-notch products that gamers are eagerly anticipating."
Editor's Note: That whole "Chairman" Mao thing was a joke, by the way.
The product line will be promoted on GamePro.com, the premier online source for gaming information. Additionally, GamePro.com has launched a special Toys channel dedicated exclusively to the action figure/collectible toy enthusiast. This channel contains exclusive editorial on this genre including behind-the-scenes features on how the toys are made with Virtual 3-D models, forums and trading posts for toy collectors to exchange information, online ordering, and much more.
Peter Henseler, President of JoyRide Studios and of Racing Champions:
"We are very excited to partner with the powerful GamePro brand on this venture. This partnership will create the most premier line of video game action figures and toys in the industry."
