News   3DO Leaves the UK
- Posted By Michael Loewer, 06.20.2002

Like Sega in recent times, 3DO long ago switched from console to software-only development. For Sega, this has meant a boon to revenue through their excellent games while removing the often costly hardware production losses. 3DO, however, has long since struggled with software production, often producing good-quality games that simply lacked staying power.

Now, they're leaving the UK, as the London office is now closing its doors.

Representatives from the company have said that 3DO will no longer have a "high frequency release schedule," but will instead focus on fewer releases with much longer development times."

An official company letter states: "The London office, based at 21-23 Mossop Street, will close on Friday June 21st, 2002, but a European licensing, accounting and UK and European back catalogue sales function will continue to be maintained."
