News   Dance Dance Revolution in Gym Class
- Posted By Michael Loewer, 06.19.2002

Physical Education always sucked at my schools. If I had to take one more Presidential Physical Fitness test, well, I can't think of anything, but I promise I'd be pissed. Sure, you had dodge ball and capture the flag, and that rocked, but one year they made the guys play field hockey.

I mean, come now...

This school knows what's fun, and they've taken the time and expense to invest in it for the kids. In Patrick Henry Middle School, near Los Angeles, the PE classes now offer full-scale Dance Dance Revolution machines in the gym classes, and you can dance for credit.

Anyone that's played this arcade before knows it's one hell of a work out. It's free to play during gym, and only 25 cents a play any other time. This minimal cost is exceptional, and the school system deserves credit since they spent over $8,000 per machine. Students have begun losing large amounts of weight, and some have developed understandable playing obsessions of up to $5 or more per day.

I wish my school system had been that cool. They would have destroyed the machines and burned the students at the stake in order to quell such evil, non-conformed, free-thinkers.
