News   E3: What do we think of Sega's GameCube and GBA lineup?
- Posted By Andrew Weatherton, 05.19.2001

Today we managed to gain entry to the Sega booth (which is possible only through appointment). We were able to sit down with a few of their GameCube and GBA games, as well as their Marketing Communications Manager, Gwen Marker. You’ll be able to read our conversation in the coming days, as well as what we thought of Sega’s Nintendo lineup. We were pleasantly surprised by the wacky new GameCube title, Monkey Ball, and shocked to discover that Sega has a contract with Nintendo to deliver 10 GameCube titles by the end of the fiscal year (March 2002). Three of these games have been officially announced and all of them were playable at Sega’s booth today. The games were Phantasy Star Online version 2, Monkey Ball, and Virtua Striker 3. With seven titles remaining to be announced, one could assume that our favorite blue hedgehog would be making an appearance. Of course, even if he does not, Sonic will be appearing on a Nintendo system this year, the Game Boy Advance. Sonic the Hedgehog Advance was shown in video form today, a playable version was not available for E3. However, from what we’ve seen, the title is looking very good.

Keep checking back for additional information in regards to Sega and E3. We’ll be sure to post impressions of Monkey Ball, Sonic the Hedgehog Advance, and many other titles from other game developers as soon as possible. As for now though, it’s getting late and we need a rest after four solid days of videogaming.
