News   Miyamoto Announces New Genre Of Games
- Posted By Lander Clinton, 04.01.2002

Shigeru Miyamoto announced today at a press conference the latest product of his imaginative mind, a new kind of game that will surely be imitated for years to come.

Miyamoto said he would "let the video speak for itself." The lights dimmed, and on the screen were a bunch of red molecules. The camera zoomed out until the whole screen was red, and then... the Heinz logo. Miyamoto grinned from ear-to-ear as the crowd gasped, and then explained how he got the idea when he was eating ketchup.

Like his new "Communication" games, this "Ketchup" genre is not yet fully understood.

"I wanted the player to discover the magic of ketchup," Miyamoto said, and promised that this game would be easily playable by casual gamers, but would still offer enough challenge for seasoned game veterans.

"The villain in the game will obviously be Hunts, because no one likes Hunts," Miyamoto said to a cheering crowd.

When asked if the new green or purple ketchup colors would appear in the game, Miyamoto got quite flustered and yelled "green ketchup? YOU'RE green ketchup!"

The game features 16 levels of ketchup and is said to be on-track for a November release in Japan and America.

NGenres will have a full preview as soon as more information is available.
