News   Portable Monopoly Completes GBA Lighting Kit
- Posted By Michael Loewer, 03.18.2002

It's called the Afterburner.

It's done, finished, completed, with pictures, videos, the works! Since several months after the Game Boy Advance release, the gods among men at PortableMonopoly.com have been toying around with the creation of an internal GBA lighting kit to backlight the GBA screen.

The experiments carried forth, as GBAs were gutted, lighting sources were tested, and finally, FINALLY, they have met with total success. The kits are now set for international release and can be reserved NOW in packs of one, five, and ten on their site here:

Buy a GBA Backlight Kit

I want to make sure everyone is very clear on just how much this goddamn rocks. The GBA screen can now be backlit using this kit. You'll actually be able to SEE the GBA screen. Your games will actually be playable without using multiple industrial-power spotlights.

The example videos they have are rather large, but low-speed readers can still view the pictures. I swear to you now, they are amazing, better than the Game Gear ever was, that's for sure. Keep in mind, this kit will require you to open up the GBA and do some stuff that basically completely voids your warranty, but christ, you're talking about a backlit GBA screen.

I'm shaking.
