In order to bring you more in-depth coverage of this interesting game, we interviewed David Artuso, the Producer at TDK Mediactive and revealed some additional information about the title.
NAdventures: Can you tell us a little about Lady Sia’s “riveting storyline”? Why is Sia
faced with such a gigantic quest?
David Artuso: Long ago when magic still filled the air and kingdoms of the world were
young, a renegade human sorcerer known as Onimen sought refuge from his
crimes on the desolate continent of Callyge. There he discovered an ancient
power and used it to create an army of half-beast, half-man creatures that
came to be know as the T’soa. With his new-formed army he swiftly invaded
the neighboring continent of Athorre, leaving no time for the human
inhabitants to rally their considerable forces. Next he turned his army on
the five kingdoms of the magical continent. Caught off-guard, all the
rulers forsook their alliances. All... except for fiery Lady Sia, the newly
crowned princess of Myriad. She boldly called the four elemental rulers
together in her land of the shapeshifters to remind them of their bond of
friendship, and so we begin as they take their seats in the meeting room…
NA: What is unique about the game’s enemies and gameplay?
DA: The game is a combination of a platformer and a fighter. The boss levels
represent the fighter portion of the game and are particularly unique in
that they use large sprite animations for one-on-one battles.
NA: Describe some of the more intriguing weapons and magical abilities that
players can acquire during their quest.
DA: Lady Sia starts the game with a plain old regular sword. One of the player’
s first objectives is to recover her more powerful sword and her magic ring.
Once she has her ring, she can focus her magic power into fireballs that the
player can cast in eight different directions. Other objectives includes
additional magic spells. Her ultimate magic power lies in her recovering
her ability to be a shape shifter.
NA: Are the L and R buttons used?
DA: Yes.
NA: The press release mentions “secret passages”. Are these shortcuts around
levels? Do they contain secret items?
DA: There are a number of secrets in Sia, not all of which I’ll reveal. But I
will say that there are some short cuts, some secret areas, and even some
secret levels.
NA: Speaking of secret passages, how linear is the gameplay in Lady Sia?
DA: The game allows the player to choose between a few mini quests at a time in
a hub and spoke structure. Once all theses quests are completed, the player
moves onto the next hub of mini quests.
NA: Are there secret options or modes that can be unlocked?
DA: That’s a secret. **wink**
NA: How is the save feature implemented?
DA: There are slots in which the game can be saved
NA: Which current games would you compare Lady Sia to?
DA: The Mega Man X series, Shadow of the Beast, Altered Beast
NA: Why will Lady Sia attract female gamers?
DA: Lady Sia represents the empowered female, a role model for her gender.
